Description

The bladderwort Utricularia graminifolia is native to Asia. The insect-eating perennial water and marsh plants make up the entire family. Bladder traps are a distinctive trait of this family, which Utricularia graminifolia develops after a short stay in the tank.

The species name means ‘with grass-like leaves,’ and the fresh green leaves produce a lovely mat that resembles a lawn after a short length of time (2-8 cm tall). Utricularia graminifolia is therefore an ideal foreground plant.

Utricularia graminifolia looks like grass. It is composed of a large number of leaves that are connected by a runner that runs through the substrate (a runner). The leaves can grow to be 1 cm long and 1-2 mm broad. It’s a bright green-yellowish green color. Urticularia will stretch across layers, throughout the entire lighted surface, forming a green and lovely lawn if planted in an aquarium with excellent development conditions.

Care Tips

  • The plant is in a fixed position with minimal uprooting/disturbance, as this delicate plant demands cautious attention.
  • Plant only in tanks that have been cycled (preferably plant in tanks that have been running for 2-4 weeks already). If the tank is not fully grown, tissue culture is especially vulnerable to melting.
