Spotted Duboisi Cichlid
Description
The Spotted Duboisi Cichlid, scientifically known as Tropheus duboisi, is a beautiful freshwater cichlid native to Lake Tanganyika in Africa. Juveniles typically have a dark body covered with contrasting white or bluish spots, while adults develop the characteristic light-coloured vertical band across the body.
Like other Tropheus cichlids, Duboisi are active and territorial fish that do best when kept in an appropriately planned African cichlid setup. They are primarily herbivorous and should be provided with a predominantly algae- and plant-based diet.
Their unusual juvenile-to-adult colour transformation makes them particularly interesting for aquarists who enjoy watching fish develop and change with age.
