Scat Fish

Scat Fish also known as Scatophagus argus or spotted scat, are marine- and fresh-water fish that are native to the Indo-Pacific region. The species, as the name suggests, have brown spots but a variety of colors, including silver, greenish, and reddish-brown.

Common names are Leopard scat, spotted butterfish, spadefish, common scat, butterfish, body spotted scat, green scat, and spotted butt are all other names used by hobbyists.

The argus fish can also be seen in streams or estuaries in New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Australia, Japan, and Africa.

They have a small slanted head area, appear to be round, and are large. The lateral line runs parallel to their dorsal fin. The dark dots on its body are visible close to its fins, and it has a condensed body profile.

Juvenile Scat Fish: When they are young, they are round, but as they get older, they look squarish. A green-hued argus fish is earthy with dull specks on its body and has a stripe-checked head. The brownish color changes to a silvery or brownish-gold tone as the dots and stripes grow. In contrast to when it was younger, the dot is only visible on the back of an adult scat fish.

Male Scat Fish: They have a small swelling above their eyes on their head. Their color is more intense than that of the female. Be that as it may, the profound variety can be because of stress, so notice the fish prior to closing on the sex.

Female Scat Fish: The female scat's skin color appears to be more faded, but there is no obvious swelling on the head.
