Description

Hygrophila Lancea 'Araguaia' is a stunning aquatic plant highly sought after by aquascapers for its unique appearance and moderate growth demands. It is named after the Araguaia River in Brazil, but its exact origins in the wild are unclear, as it's believed to be a cultivated or hybridized variety.

Long, narrow, lance-shaped leaves with a reddish to purplish hue.

Leaves are compact and grow in dense clusters, making it ideal for creating contrast in aquascapes.

It grows both submerged and emersed. Submerged growth displays its vivid colors more prominently.

Stem plant that propagates by side shoots or cuttings.

Care Requirements:

  1. Light: Medium to high lighting is recommended for optimal coloration and healthy growth.
  2. CO₂: Supplementing with CO₂ enhances its red tones and growth rate, though it can grow in non-CO₂ setups at a slower pace.
  3. Temperature: Thrives in water temperatures between 20-28°C (68-82°F).
  4. pH: Prefers slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.0-7.5).
  5. Nutrient-rich substrate helps in root development, though it can absorb nutrients from the water column.
  6. Best suited for the midground or as an accent plant in the foreground
