Eleocharis acicularis – AP298, commonly known as hairgrass, is a popular carpeting aquarium plant featuring thin, needle-like green blades. Under the right conditions, it spreads through runners to create a dense lawn effect in the foreground or midground of planted tanks.

This plant adapts well to low to medium lighting, though brighter light and CO₂ will encourage faster growth and a tighter carpet. It is ideal for nature-style, Iwagumi, and minimalist aquascapes, where simplicity and balance are key.
