CBS shrimp - Crystal Black Shrimp

Crystal Black Shrimp (CBS) are a stunning variety of Caridina cantonensis, closely related to Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS). Instead of red and white patterns, CBS feature beautiful black and white banded markings, making them a popular choice for freshwater shrimp keepers and aquascapers.

CBS thrive in soft, slightly acidic water and do best in well-maintained, planted aquariums. These shrimp are peaceful and can coexist with other gentle tank mates, but because of their small size and delicate nature, they are often kept in species-only tanks to encourage successful breeding and reduce stress.

• pH: 5.5 – 6.8
• GH: 4-6
• KH: 0-2
• TDS: 100-180 ppm
• Tank Size: 10 gallons or larger
• Substrate: Active soil (like ADA Amazonia) to buffer pH
• Filtration: Sponge filter or shrimp-safe filter
• Other Shrimp: Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS), Taiwan Bee Shrimp, and certain Neocaridina if parameters allow.
• Snails: Nerite Snails, Malaysian Trumpet Snails, Mystery Snails.
• Nano Fish (with caution): Chili Rasboras, Ember Tetras, Celestial Pearl Danios, Pygmy Corydoras.
