Description
Caroline Hi-Fin Platy is very curious and has a large, flowing dorsal fin. They will explore every level of the tank.
Platys will eat most fish food in an aquarium, as well as any algae that grow there.
They will benefit from a varied diet, and Aquarium Industries Frozen Tropical Mix is a good way to give them the nutrients and variety they need.
They can also be kept outdoors in ponds to control the number of mosquitoes and algae (only in northern states with warmer climates).
Platys are livebearers, which means that approximately 30 days after fertilization, the female gives birth to a fully formed, free-swimming baby fish.
A fish that is easy to care for and does well in all kinds of community aquariums. Give them a fairly large tank with open swimming areas and live plants.
Livebearers generally don't like acidic water, so don't collect too much driftwood. They benefit from being kept with a large number of their own kind, despite the fact that they are not schooling fish.
