Hockey Stick Tetra is referred to as Thayeria boehlkei in the aquarium trade. It is commonly called a Penguin tetra, Penguin fish, or Blackline Penguin fish. It has a black vertical stripe and is light to golden in color, this black stripe covers the majority of the tail’s lower half, thus giving it a name.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hockeystick Tetras are schooling fish that do best when put together with six or more of their kind. They live amidst live plants, rocks, and driftwood, which also act as hiding places.<\/span><\/p>\n

This species is a wonderful addition to an aquarium with dense plantings or a well-kept community. The ideal substrate for Hockey stick Tetra is dark, and floating plants that can give the fish the shade they like.<\/span><\/p>\n
