It is one of the most popular mosses in the aquascaping hobby due to its unusual appearance. In aquariums, flame moss is frequently used as a plant for decoration.:
It is also adored is its low upkeep requirements. Flame Moss will attach itself to bushes in slow-moving rivers in its natural environment.
Of course, there’s a reason it’s called “Flame Moss.” When attached to driftwood or rock, this moss develops a distinct upward-twisting pattern, giving it a flame-like appearance.
The flames of this moss are a darker shade of green than those of other mosses. Flame moss can also grow thick and a bit bushy.
Either fully submerged or completely submerged, flame moss can grow. It will grow slowly when emersed, but it will grow fairly quickly and glow a healthy green when submerged.
To fully appreciate this plant’s potential, it is best to keep it submerged.
Flame Moss, like other mosses, can easily attach itself to hardscape and grows from rhizoids. These rhizoids will effectively secure the greenery to hardscape and retain the supplements the plant needs.
Care Tips:
- It can be attached to the hardscape of your aquarium or left floating (though if left floating, be careful because it could get caught in your filter). It is essential to keep in mind that this moss requires some time to securely adhere to your hardscape if you wish to attach it.
- Injection of CO₂ will produce Flame Moss with the best growth and brightest coloration, despite the fact that it is not absolutely necessary.
