II. You would love the fish because…
Spotted Duboisi Cichlid is known for its drastic physical change as it grows, which is one of its defining traits.
The colour of juvenile fish is jet black with numerous tiny white dots. These spots completely disappear as they become older, and their heads take on a blueish colour.
A substantial golden band that extends just behind the pectoral fin also grows on them. The Duboisi Cichlid can reach a maximum length of five inches.
The head of this fish is larger than the body, which gets smaller toward the tail. The heads of adults are blue or bluish grey. The body’s remaining portions are primarily black with a few blue flashes and a starkly contrasted strip (yellow or white) running along the centre.
Young specimens feature a lovely colour pattern with a matt black body and several spots that transition from blue to white sky. They are sometimes referred to as “The Pearly Butterfly” because of their persistent body colour, which lasts for over a year.
