Sagittaria Subulata is a narrow-leaved arrowhead underground runner that makes an excellent background plant as it quickly forms dense groupings.
It can be a little unpredictable since it can grow into a short grass with lots of light and little access to nutrients, but when the population is dense and the macronutrient supply is enough, it grows leaves that are 30 cm long.
The submerged leaves are up to 5 mm broad and strap-shaped. If the aquarium’s circumstances are favorable, it might develop a lengthy blossom stalk. Outside of the water, its little white blossoms will open.
One of the “longest-serving” aquarium plants is Sagittaria subulata. It can withstand a high carbonate hardness and has light requirements, making it the perfect choice for low-tech or no-tech tanks without a COâ‚‚-providing system.
Sagittaria subulata is fairly vulnerable to the iron shortage, which shows itself in the form of pale young leaves.
This aquatic plant from North America is great for both tropical and cold water aquariums because of its high-temperature tolerance.
Care Tips
- Keep it trimmed and pruned.
- A light that is too bright or direct will cause discoloration or even melting.
