Red Lip Snail

Red Lip Snails are loved by Aquarists. These snails are voracious algae eaters. They feed the majority of the algae off the tank’s glasses since they prefer hard surfaces to live on.

Another benefit of these snails is that they cannot reproduce in aquariums because the larvae develop in marine surroundings.

Red Lip Snail snails have a lifespan of several years. A wild gathered specimen, on the other hand, cannot be dated.

The Red Lips Snail is a member of the genus Neritina violacea, which is found along Southeast Asia’s beaches. It is mostly found in mangroves in the wild. As a result, hard water with a pH greater than 8 is preferable.

This species is native to Asia and has ruby slugs or “lips” that make them particularly attractive to see. Lips that are red The shell of Red Lip Snails are multi-toned black marbled and will alter over time. 

Their natural habitat consists of tiny streams with algae-covered stones and vegetation stalks.

These snails will clean your glass, rocks, and plant leaves, which may include algae such as Black Beard Algae and Green Hair Algae. 

A medium-sized snail, roughly the size of a nickel. They normally survive for 2-3 years and are difficult to reproduce. Up to 5 snails per gallon of aquarium water are recommended. 

They are mostly active at night and are unlikely to breed unless they are in saltwater, even though they live in freshwater.

V. How to feed this species?

Red Lip snails primarily consume algae in your tank. They’re quite efficient at it, which is why they’re so popular in the aquarium industry. They can sometimes be so good that they hoover the entire tank clean and there aren’t enough algae left.
