Koi Carp
Description
Mixed Koi Carp are attractive and very colorful. Even though carp domestication is said to have started in China in the 4th century, modern Japanese Koi are thought to have originated in early 19th-century Japan, where rice farmers caught, preserved, and bred wild, colorful fish.
The typical lifespan of a koi is 40 years. The oldest-known koi is thought to have lived for close to 230 years; its age was ascertained by testing the fish's scales, which generate growth rings similar to those found on trees.
II. You would love the fish because…
Mixed Koi Carp are powerful fish, they are simple to maintain, and adjust to their surroundings and grow to fill their available space. So, they won't grow too big in an aquarium or try to escape.
Koi can survive in water that is 40–95°F unless the environment is drastically changed. Additionally, they may easily go for one week without eating (if you have to go on vacation, for example).
No matter the time of year, you can enjoy keeping a Koi. Kois are cold-blooded fish thus when winter arrives, outdoor Koi go dormant, whereas indoor Koi remain active due to the steady water temperature.
You can provide them with food every day and spend time with them every day of the year.
Koi are very friendly and will eat from your hands. They make ideal indoor companions.
Koi are referred to as living gems since there are over 100 different types and no two are precisely the same.
III. Is this fish species peaceful or hostile?
Kois are generally calm but can become violent towards the smaller fish, such as guppies, danios, mollies, and minnows if the tank is overcrowded.
IV. Species compatibility
Goldfish, Grass carp, Suckermouth catfish, Redear sunfish, Largemouth bass, Chinese high-fin banded shark, and Orfe.
V. How to feed this species?
Four times a day, and feed them only as much as they can consume in five minutes or less. Koi fish consume a wide variety of foods, including store-bought koi fish food as well as small insects and bugs, plants, and algae at the bottom of the fish pond. Even human food is edible to koi.
