Lyretail Molly fish are a staple of freshwater fishkeeping and have long been popular among aquarists!
These fish are well-known for their low-maintenance care requirements and diverse range of potential species.
Despite the fact that Lyretail Molly are simple to care for, we always recommend owners to become well-versed in this species. This will keep them happy and healthy, as well as save you time in the long term.
The Lyretail Molly is a lovely fish that would be at home in almost any aquarium.
Lyretail Mollies like hard, alkaline water and may not flourish in acidic or soft water aquariums. Lyretail Mollies may adapt to a wide range of salt levels in the aquarium.
The Lyretail Molly can be kept in either a freshwater or saltwater aquarium with progressive adaptation.Â
A teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon is suggested for optimum health in freshwater aquariums.
Lyretail Mollies require an aquarium with at least 100 litres of algae and plenty of swimming space. If enough space is not allowed for the male to swim, his towering dorsal fin will not develop.
Lyretail Mollies should be kept alongside other tranquil fish that love hard water with high salt levels. The anal fin of the male Lyretail Molly is pointed, and the dorsal fin is substantially larger.
The female Marble Lyretail Molly, on the other hand, has a rounded anal fin and a pregnant spot.
The Lyretail Molly is a livebearer that requires a spawning box in a breeding tank of 75 liters or more. The aquarium should be densely planted or have a thick algae mat.
A clump of floating plants in the corner of your aquarium will encourage rearing outside of the breeding tank. Every 60-70 days, the female will give birth to 10-60 young, each of which is about 3cm long.
