Description

Kabuto Koi fish is a type of ornamental fish that belongs to the Koi fish family, which is a domesticated variety of common carp.

Kabuto Koi are named after their distinctive head shape, which resembles the helmet worn by Japanese samurai warriors.

II. You would love the fish because…

The head of a Kabuto Koi is large and rounded, with a slight indentation at the top that resembles a ridge.

The eyes of this fish are set deeply in the head and are usually dark in color. The body of the Kabuto Koi is elongated, and its fins are long and flowing.

Kabuto Koi are typically bred in Japan, where Koi keeping is a popular hobby.

These fish are highly prized for their unique appearance, and their rarity often makes them quite expensive.

The coloration of a Kabuto Koi can vary widely, with shades of white, black, orange, and red being common.

Some Kabuto Koi also exhibit a metallic sheen to their scales, which makes them even more striking.

III. Is this fish species peaceful or hostile?

Kois are generally calm but can become violent towards the smaller fish, such as guppies, danios, mollies, and minnows if the tank is overcrowded.

IV. Species compatibility

Goldfish, Grass carp, Suckermouth catfish, Redear sunfish, Largemouth bass, Chinese high-fin banded shark, and Orfe.

V. How to feed this species?

Four times a day, and feed them only as much as they can consume in five minutes or less. Koi fish consume a wide variety of foods, including store-bought koi fish food as well as small insects and bugs, plants, and algae at the bottom of the fish pond. Even human food is edible to koi.
