Hemianthus micranthemoides TC – IC022

Hemianthus micranthemoides, is an elegant North American plant with petite, arching leaves that resemble a miniature form of Egeria. It is commonly called Micranthemum micranthemoides, pearl grass, and pearl weed.  Having said that, Micranthemum micranthemoides was the previous name for this plant. 

Hemianthus micranthemoides TC – IC022 can be used as a foreground plant because of their unique trailing growth in bright light (stems from 10-20 cm tall, 2-3 cm wide). With its small, light-green leaves, a compact bunch of Hemianthus micranthemoides is rather lovely. The plant makes a compact cushion in terrariums.

To help them propagate, the ends of the stems should be trimmed, grouped, and then planted together in the substrate. This is done so that the plant does not get concealed by other foliage. 

CO₂ isn’t essential, but it’s a good idea. It can handle a wide range of pH levels. So, if you want ultra-dense growth then use high light and CO₂.

A classic Nature Aquarium plant that is often used by Mr. Amano. With intense light and trimming, Hemianthus micranthemoides forms a compact bush with small light green leaves.

Care Tips

• They require a tropical water temperature of 68-82° F (20-28° C), a KH of 0-10, and a pH of 5.0-7.5.
• Surface water current should not force the leaves to sink or overly bump into the aquarium’s side if used as a floating plant.
