Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Tropica ‘ is a lovely cryptocorne cultivar that is suitable for aquariums. It has dark brown leaves that are heavily marbled. It can grow in lesser lighting without CO₂ because it is a simple plant ( best results with stronger lighting and CO₂ injection). These plants can adapt to a variety of water conditions and grow in both soft and hard water. It thrives on nutrient-rich soil. It grows 10 to 30 cm tall and can be used as a midground plant.
Cryptocoryne Tropica is a variety of Crypt Wendtii, a well-known cryptocoryne. When grown submerged, this popular Crypt will have long, crinkled green/orange/bronze leaves. The contrast between submerged and emersed grown plants may be seen in the photos.  Cryptocoryne is easy to care for and is similar to other low-light aquatic plant species including Anubias, Bucephalandra, and others.
Crypts reproduce by sending forth runners, which can be clipped and replanted in the substrate if desired. Plant separate stems about one inch apart for good coverage. Water trumpets can be planted in bunches as long as all of the roots have access to the substrate’s nutrients.
Care Tips
- This plant may readily flourish in a low-light environment or even in soft, hard water.
- Make sure to fertilize it regularly, and don’t forget to change the water at least once a week.
