Cryptocoryne Parva is the tiniest Crypt is Cryptocoryne parva. It is native to Sri Lanka, where it grows along the banks of fast-flowing rivers in shallow water.
With its underground runners, it creates dense, long lawns. Cryptocoryne x willisii is a hybrid formed by this species and other species from the same location, such as C. beckettii.
It has long been popular in the aquarium hobby and is part of the regular assortment of water plant nurseries.
The Small Water Trumpet can grow to be approximately 10 cm tall in its natural habitat, although it is usually only 2 to 5 cm tall in an aquarium.
It has coarse, medium to dark green leaves. The leaf blades of emersed plants are broadly lanceolate, but those of submerged plants are much narrower.
When exposed to direct sunlight, the leaves spread horizontally, whereas when sheltered, they remain upright. Aside from that, it is one of the few Cryptocoryne whose leaf color and shape do not change greatly as the environment changes.
Care tips
- Cryptocoryne prefers not to be moved once planted. If possible, do not move them!
- Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in the melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
