Anubias barteri var. ‘glabra ”is a glabrous Anubias selection with striking white spots pattern on its leaves giving a marble effect.
This effect is not always apparent in the early stages of growth but usually appears after some time of submersible cultivation.
Anubias minima ‘Variegated’ or ‘Variegata’ is another name for this plant. It is like the wild type and has a unique narrow lanceolate leaf form.
It varies from Anubias barteri var. glabra ‘Variegated Small Leaf’ – its leaves are bigger, around 6 cm long.
Temperatures between 21 and 27 degrees Celsius and medium lighting are required,
Anubias species are noted for having modest requirements; however, for maximum growth, complete macro-and micronutrient supply via the water column, CO₂
addition, and adequate light.
Plants with variegated leaves have slightly higher light requirements than all-green wild counterparts because they produce less chlorophyll for photosynthesis. ‘Variegated,’ like other Anubias, is primarily an epiphyte that can be attached to hardscape materials.
Anubias barteri var. glabra is ideal for beginners and can be used to improve the appearance of planted tanks.
Care tips
- Anubias are tough plants that may grow in a range of conditions.
