Description

The Sun Nerite Snail, also known as Neritina pulligera, is a popular freshwater aquarium snail valued for its striking appearance and algae-eating habits.

Sun nerite snails have a distinct and beautiful shell pattern, featuring golden or yellowish bands on a dark brown or black background. Their shells are typically smooth and round, with a conical shape.

They are relatively small, usually reaching about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter when fully grown.

Sun nerite snails are native to freshwater habitats in Southeast Asia, including rivers, streams, and ponds. In aquariums, they prefer well-established tanks with plenty of algae to graze on.

These snails are primarily herbivores, feeding on algae that grow on surfaces like rocks, glass, and plants. They can help control algae growth in aquariums, but they may also need supplemental feeding if algae levels are low.

Sun nerite snails are peaceful and can be kept with a variety of freshwater fish and invertebrates. However, they should not be housed with aggressive species that might harm them or attempt to eat them.

They are generally low-maintenance and can tolerate a range of water conditions, but they do best in stable, well-oxygenated aquariums with good water quality. Regular water changes and adequate filtration are important for their health
