Description
Golden Archer Fish is a cute fish that is known for shooting a powerful jet of water at its prey, usually insects, to catch and eat them.
The fish shoots a powerful jet of water that hits the insects so hard that they fall into the water and the fish quickly consumes them. When its prey is sufficiently close to the water's surface, this fish is known to occasionally leap out of the water to capture it.
Even though the banded archer fish, also known as the archerfish, looks like any other fish, the way they catch prey will make you stop in your tracks. This carnivorous fish is equipped with a potent "super soaker." In search of spiders and other insects, the fish float close to the surface of the water that they prefer to be salty.
This fish has the ability to leap out of the water with sufficient momentum to pursue its meal if it continues to miss its target.

The body of an Golden Archer Fish is rather thin due to its elongated and laterally compressed shape. Around the mouth, its face has a pointy shape. It can accurately target its prey thanks to its narrow profile. This fish can reach a length of 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 centimeters). The tail is rounded and the dorsal fin is further back than on most fish.
The band pattern of each of the seven archer fish species varies. The banded archer fish is the most common one. Their backs have a gold tint and their body is silver. All over their bodies, they have four to six vertical bands. The first one wraps around the anal fin, and the last one covers the eye. The colors of the other archer fish are all the same, but some have spots or fewer bands.

Archer fish primarily consume meat. They eat crustaceans, smaller fish, spiders, and insects. Because these fish primarily hunt for food on the surface, it can be challenging to feed them in managed care. Archer fish typically ignore the food once it has submerged below the surface.
