Firemouth Cichlid is a member of the Cichlidae family and can be found in Central American rivers.
It is a popular ornamental aquarium fish because of its brilliant red color and is typically bred for commercial purposes.
Publicity They are peaceful, tough fish. This fish might be the one for you if you've never kept fish before.
It can become aggressive during spawning seasons and is semi-territorial.
Firemouths can live for 8 to 10 years with proper care.
There are two parts to their scientific name, Thorichthys meeki. Meeki is named after the renowned ichthyologist Seth Eugene Meek (1859–1914), who was the first to publish a book on Mexican freshwater fish. The name Thorichthys comes from the ancient Greek word for "leaping fish."

II. You would love the fish because...
The Firemouth Cichlid's name comes from the fiery red coloration that males develop during the spawning season.
This species' male and female appearances are distinct, as with most fish. As a rule, guys are bigger and show more splendid tinge with longer balance beams. Females, on the other hand, have more rounded shapes because they have larger bellies.
Males typically reach about 6 inches, while females average 4 to 5 inches. Heads and bodies have a dim to blue-olive hue with the guys showing radiant red or orange varieties on the underside of the head where the gills are.
A black mark on the operculum's lower half is common to all Firemouth Cichlids. Along the sides, they may also have dark lateral bars.
Except for the pectoral fins, their fins have a red edge and occasionally blue spots.
Actinopterygii fish typically have fins that look like rays. Ray-finned fishes are another name for this group. A web of skin supported by a collection of rays or spines forms the fins of fish in this class.
Curiously, it has been shown that these fish have an alternate shading relying upon their normal environments. The lower Grijalva in Tabasco, Mexico, is where you should go if you want to find the most colorful fish.
