Amano shrimp

The Amano Shrimp is one of the most popular freshwater aquarium shrimp for natural algae control. Also known as the Japanese Algae Eating Shrimp or Yamato Shrimp, it is valued for its excellent algae-grazing ability and peaceful nature.

Amano Shrimp constantly move around the aquarium, grazing on algae, biofilm and leftover food from plants, rocks and décor. Their translucent, greyish body with small markings gives them a subtle appearance that works particularly well in planted aquariums and aquascapes.

Care

Amano Shrimp are peaceful and generally easy to care for when provided with stable water conditions. They appreciate planted aquariums with plenty of surfaces to graze on.

Supplement their natural algae diet with quality shrimp foods, algae wafers and other suitable foods when necessary. Avoid keeping them with large or aggressive fish that may prey on them.
